How racism hurts kids

Recently, six academic researchers released an international systematic review on the relationship between racism and health for children and young people. All Together Now produced this infographic based on the report, showing how racism hurts kids.

When children are teased or bullied because of their race, or they see a family member experiencing racism, it hurts them.  As a result of racism, they can experience a range of health impacts including poor health & wellbeing; emotional and behavioural problems; and impaired cognitive development.  Later in life the effects of racism on adults include restricted access to employment, housing and education; negative thoughts; and physical injury from racist violence.

  1. It’s horrible how racism brings bullying with it, we are living in the 21st century and we should all know by now that there’s no race superior to others… We are all equal!! We are all brothers and sisters and as Luther King said, we should learn to walk this earth like brothers.

    • The question is how we can bring more awareness of this subject to people by emphasising more on the positives of an ideal world without racism than those disturbing consequences. Positive messages help to attract more target audiences who would be far more likely to share the content without hesitation. After all, it’s a cause that aims to bring happiness to people around the world and to strengthen social cohesion.
