Fundraising for Racial Equity in Australia

Without support from generous donors, charities like All Together Now could not exist. Fundraising efforts play a crucial role in gathering the necessary funds that enable our organisation to succeed in promoting racial equity in Australia.

There are many ways to fundraise for All Together Now – whether you’re at school, work or with friends and family at home, every effort counts!
You can also organise fundraising events with friends in your club, team, band or youth organisation!

Need some inspiration? Here are a few ideas to kickstart your fundraising journey.

Fundraise at School

Fundraising isn’t just about raising funds for ATN; it’s also about educating children on race and the impacts of racism. These fun activities strengthen our community and foster empathy and solidarity among the students.

Fundraise at Work

We recognise that each organisation faces unique challenges with diversity, equity and inclusion, and is at a different stage in its anti-racism journey. This is a valuable opportunity to raise awareness and combat racism.

Fundraise on your Own

Check out these fundraising ideas you can try on your own! Not only do they raise funds, but they also foster ongoing dialogue and awareness about anti-racism and racial equity within your networks and community.

Fundraise at School

Fundraising at school isn’t just about raising funds for All Together Now; it’s also about educating children on race and the impacts of racism in Australia. Imagine organising raffles, book or bake sales, fun runs and casual dress days where a simple gold coin donation can make a big impact. These activities aren’t just fun – they strengthen our community and foster empathy and solidarity among our students.

Casual Dress Days (No Uniform Days): Host a no-uniform day where students can dress casually or in cultural attire for a small donation. Use this opportunity to raise awareness about anti-racism initiatives. Encourage students to wear colours or cultural clothes that represents their heritage, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere in support for equality. See how Balmain Public School celebrated with a fun and meaningful event on International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

Fun Runs or Walks: Plan a fun run or walk where participants can seek sponsorship for completing various distances. It’s a fantastic way to promote health and wellness while raising funds for anti-racism programs. Incorporate messages of racial equity along the route to inspire participants to think about the importance of standing against racism.

School Raffles: Organise a raffle with exciting prizes donated by local businesses or community members. Use the proceeds to support racial equity projects, making it clear that every ticket sold contributes to a more inclusive community. This is an easy and engaging way to generate interest and support for a good cause.

Fundraise at Work

We recognise that each organisation faces unique challenges with diversity, equity and inclusion, and is at a different stage in its anti-racism journey. This is a valuable opportunity to raise awareness and combat racism.

We encourage workplaces to take meaningful actions that foster positive impact. By addressing racism proactively, you can attract talent, improve performance, and create a safer, more inclusive environment for everyone.

Here are some easy-to-implement fundraising ideas your workplace can try to promote inclusion and racial equity and make a difference:

Walk, Run or Cycle Challenge: Set an exciting goal, such as the distance to your nearest landmark or your team’s recent sales target. Encourage your colleagues to participate and make a donation each time they walk, run or cycle. This initiative promotes fitness while raising funds for anti-racism projects. Add messages of racial equity along the route to inspire participants to reflect on the importance of standing against racism. Find out how AFT Festival hosted a 3km adventure filled with clues hidden among iconic streets and landmarks in Sydney’s bustling Chinatown and in scenic Port Macquarie.

Donate a Percentage of Sales: Support our mission by donating a percentage of your sales! This initiative not only helps raise funds for important anti-racism projects but also fosters a sense of community and shared purpose. Customers will appreciate knowing their purchases contribute to promoting racial equity and justice, creating a meaningful impact while boosting your business. It’s a win-win!

Donation Box in a Common Area: Raise awareness about racism by placing a donation box in the common area. This easy-to-implement initiative invites employees to contribute to a shared cause, fostering a sense of community and collective responsibility. Use this opportunity to provide information about racial equity initiatives, encouraging open discussions and engagement around these vital issues and offering resources for mental health support for those affected by racism.

Fundraise on your Own

DIY Craft Sale: Create and sell handmade crafts, such as bracelets or art pieces, featuring messages that promote anti-racism and racial equity. Use the sale as an opportunity to educate customers about the importance of these issues.

Social Media Campaign: Launch a campaign encouraging people to share their stories or commitments to racial equity and anti-racism. For every post or share, ask for a small donation, raising awareness while generating funds for anti-racism initiatives. Include educational resources and links to All Together Now’s resources working towards racial equity to deepen the impact.

A heartfelt thank you to Balmain Public School for all the donations and support in promoting racial equity in Australia.

Walkathon

The Move8 VR Walk-a-Hunt, part of the AFT International Sports & Fitness Festival, took significant steps toward this vision by fostering friendship, diversity, equity and inclusion in sport, fitness and wellness.

The event spanned three cities — starting in Kuala Lumpur’s Bukit Bintang, continuing through Sydney’s Chinatown and concluding in Port Macquarie. Participants embarked on a 3km adventure filled with clues hidden among iconic streets and landmarks. From the lively markets of Sydney’s historic Chinatown to the picturesque routes of Port Macquarie, the Walk-a-Hunt was more than just a fitness challenge; it was a celebration of community and inclusivity.

A big thank you to AFT for donating 10% of the gross collections from the walkathon to All Together Now (ATN)! Your support helps us continue our mission of promoting racial equity and combating racism in Australia.

Music Bands

In celebration of National Youth Week, Tribe Clubhouse hosted the All Ages Amplified Festival, featuring some of the best up-and-coming local bands in Redcliffe, Queensland.

To mark this special occasion and support ATN, The Crypt Daddies, with the help of Red Octopus Custom Print are excited to unveil their exclusive Graveyard Tee!

Thank you for your generous support — 100% of the proceeds from these tees will go directly to ATN, helping to further their incredible work.

Where does the money raised go?

Update of EveryDay Racism App

Development of Free Anti-Racism Resources

As a charity, our mission is to “educate Australians about racism”. We do this by developing educational resources and making them available for free to the community via our website, social and newsletters. Your donation will help us to continue to do this and support our core mission to educate Australians about racism and its impacts.

Free Access to Workshops

We provide our Challenging Hateful Misinformation and Countering Far-Right Extremism workshops free of charge to vulnerable groups and support services. Your donation will help us continue offering these crucial programs to those who need them most.
