Mini Podcasts Produced By Young People, For Young People

During the co-design process, young people in this age cohort (18 -21) agreed to create a podcast series with each episode addressing a particular theme relating to online gaming.  Over the course of several weeks, young people in all their creative glory began the process of imagining and producing these podcasts.

Working in collaboration with a local community radio station, Radio Skidrow in Marrickville, the young people were given the opportunity to work in a professional studio and received technical support from staff at the community radio station. This collaboration not only provided hands-on experience in podcast production but also fostered new connections, bringing young people together in a creative, community-driven environment. The result is an engaging and thought-provoking series that highlights the challenges young people face in online gaming spaces.

The podcast series consists of 4 x 1 hour long (approximately) episodes, each focusing on a different topic/theme for discussion. The topics were carefully chosen by the participants, ensuring that the discussions reflect their insights and analysis as young adult gamers.  The four episodes are:

  • Episode 1: Gaming Culture
  • Episode 2: Toxic Language and Behaviour
  • Episode 3: Age restrictions in gaming
  • Episode 4: Healthy gaming

Tune into these episodes and hear directly from young people as they share their perspectives on these topics and how they see the world of online gaming. Each episode features a roundtable discussion with a diverse group of young gamers, offering a wide range of opinions and experiences. Whether you’re a concerned parent, a new gamer, or a seasoned player, this podcast series has something for everyone. Providing a fresh and unique lens on these topics this podcast series is not to be missed!

As well as being available for listening on our website the podcasts are being aired on Radio Skidrow (88.9FM). On Tuesday afternoons from 3pm over the next 4 weeks on the following dates:

  • Episode 1: 25/2/25
  • Episode 2: 4/3/25
  • Episode 3: 11/3/25
  • Episode 4: 18/3/25

By amplifying gamer-led and youth-led initiatives, the Game Changers project aims to foster safer and more inclusive gaming communities for young people.
